How to Add a Recipient and Receive Funds on GiveSendGo

How to Add a Recipient to Receive Funds on GiveSendGo

Every gift on GiveSendGo is meant to reach someone. Adding a recipient connects your fundraiser to the person or organization who will receive the funds.

Once a recipient is added, they'll need to verify their identity and connect a bank account before transfers can be made. For details on timing and transfer schedules, see How Transfers Work on GiveSendGo.

Choose the Right Option

There are two ways to add a recipient:

  • Become a recipient. Choose this if the funds are going to you, either as an individual or on behalf of a business or organization you represent.
  • Invite a recipient. Choose this if the funds are going to someone else. You'll send them an email invitation to join the fundraiser and complete verification on their own.

How to Add a Recipient

  1. Log in to your GiveSendGo account
  2. Go to My Campaigns and open the fundraiser you want to manage
  3. Navigate to the Transfers tab
  4. Click Add a recipient
  5. Choose Become a recipient or Invite a recipient, then complete the form

Become a Recipient

If you are the recipient, choose Become a recipient, then select whether the funds are going to a Personal account or a Business account.

Personal

  1. Choose Become a recipient, then select Personal
  2. Fill out and submit the Recipient Information form, including your bank details
  3. Confirm the Identity Summary

You'll be prompted to submit a copy of your government-issued ID after completing the Recipient Information form.

Business

  1. Choose Become a recipient, then select Business
  2. Fill out and submit the Recipient Information form, including the legal business name and bank details
  3. Confirm the Identity Summary

The legal representative completing this form must be authorized to act on behalf of the business and comply with applicable financial regulations.

Invite a Recipient

If the funds are going to someone else, choose Invite a recipient. You'll send an email invitation, and they'll complete verification on their own.

Inviting a Person

  1. Choose Invite a recipient
  2. Enter the recipient's first and last name and email address
  3. Choose whether the recipient is the final beneficiary of the funds (yes or no)
  4. Add a personal message if you'd like
  5. Click Send Invitation

Inviting a Business

  1. Choose Invite a recipient, then select the business option
  2. Enter the legal business name, then the legal representative's first and last name and email address
  3. Choose whether the business is the final beneficiary of the funds (yes or no)
  4. Add a personal message if you'd like
  5. Click Complete setup

The invited recipient will receive an email with instructions to join the fundraiser, complete identity verification, and connect a bank account.

If you're not sure which option fits your situation, Contact Us and we'll help you through it.

Verification Requirements

All recipients must complete identity verification before transfers can be initiated. This is required by payment processing regulations to protect givers and ensure funds reach the right person.

To verify, recipients must be at least 18 years old and provide:

  • A bank account in the same country as the fundraiser (the country set at the time the fundraiser was created)
  • A valid tax ID in the same country as the fundraiser
  • A government-issued photo ID with date of birth
  • A phone number
  • A residential address (PO Boxes are not accepted)

Verification typically completes within 1 to 2 business days. In some cases, additional documentation may be required. Once verification is complete, you can manage transfer preferences and view transfer history from the Transfers tab.

If verification takes longer than expected or you receive a request for additional documents, Contact Us and we'll help you sort it out.
