How to Format Your Campaign Story on GiveSendGo

How to Format Your Campaign Story

Your campaign story is one of the most important parts of your GiveSendGo page. A clear, well-structured story helps givers understand your need, connect with your cause, and feel confident supporting you.

Our built-in editor includes simple formatting tools to help you organize your message and make it easy to read. This guide walks you through what each tool does and how to use it effectively.

Alert
Your story has a 10,000-character limit (including spaces). Focus on clarity, relevance, and the most important details.

Formatting Tools

Use Headings to Organize Your Story

Headings help break your story into sections and make it easier for givers to scan your page. Other options include:
  1. Normal: Standard body text
  2. Quote: Highlight a testimonial or meaningful statement
  3. Code: Advanced formatting (rarely needed for most campaigns)
To add a heading:
  1. Click the Style dropdown in the editor (#1 above)
  2. Select a heading option
You can use headings to denote sections within your campaign story like:
  1. "Why We’re Fundraising"
  2. "How the Funds Will Be Used"

Emphasize Important Information

You can highlight key details using text formatting tools:

  1. Bold: Draw attention to important points (use sparingly) (#2 above)
  2. Underline: Add emphasis when needed (#3 above)
  3. Clear Formatting: Reset text to default settings (#4 above)

Avoid over-formatting. Too many bold or underlined sections can make your story harder to read.

Add Color

You can change text or background color:

  1. Click the Color icon (#5 above) in the toolbar
  2. Choose Text or Background
  3. Select a color from the palette

Use color sparingly. Too many colors can distract from your message.

Use Lists for Clarity

Lists help organize information and make key points easier to follow.

  1. Unordered list (#6 above): Bullet points
  2. Ordered list (#7 above): Numbered steps

Lists are helpful when outlining things like:

  1. Specific expenses
  2. Steps in a process
  3. Key updates
  4. Prayer requests or needs

Adjust Alignment and Indentation

Use the Paragraph menu (#8 above) to:

  1. Align text left, center, or right
  2. Justify text
  3. Increase or decrease indentation

For most campaigns, left alignment provides the best readability.

Insert Tables

You can use Tables (#9 above) to organize structured information such as schedules or detailed breakdowns. To add a table:

  1. Click the Table icon
  2. Select the number of rows and columns
  3. After inserting, you can edit cell content or adjust the table as needed

Tables are optional and are not necessary for most campaigns.

To link to a website, article, or resource:

  1. Highlight the text you want to link
  2. Click the Link icon (#10 above)
  3. Enter the URL
  4. Choose whether the link opens in a new window

Instead of pasting long URLs directly into your story, hyperlink text to keep your page clean and easy to read.

Keep It Clear and Easy to Read

Formatting should support your story, not distract from it. To make your campaign easy to follow:

  1. Break up long paragraphs
  2. Use headings to separate sections
  3. Use lists for clarity
  4. Avoid excessive formatting

A simple, well-organized story builds trust and helps givers quickly understand your need.
