How to Create and Manage Referral Codes on GiveSendGo

Referral Codes

Knowing where your support comes from helps you share your campaign more effectively. Referral codes let you create unique shareable links for different platforms, emails, or promotions, so you can see what's working the most.

Why Use a Referral Code

Referral codes enable you to measure campaign success, helping you:
  1. Track which platforms or promotions are driving the most givers
  2. Compare results across different channels
  3. Create unique, shareable links for each promotion

Turn On the Referral Code Generator

To enable referral tracking for your campaign:
  1. Log in to your GiveSendGo account
  2. Open your Campaign Dashboard
  3. Click Manage Campaign
  4. Select Donation Settings
  5. Find the Allow Referral Code? toggle and switch it to Yes

Create a Referral Code

Once referral tracking is enabled, a field will appear to enter your code:
  1. Enter a short, memorable code (for example: FB2025 or EmailPromo)
  2. A referral link will automatically generate beneath the field
  3. Click Save to apply the code

Each referral link follows this format: https://givesendgo.com/YourCampaign?donateCode=YourCode.

Managing Your Referral Codes

To review and manage your codes, go to Referral Code History in your Campaign Dashboard. From there, you can:
  1. Copy the full referral URL
  2. Copy just the referral code
  3. Delete unused or outdated codes
Info
Referral Code History only appears if referral tracking has been enabled.

How Referral Codes Work

When someone uses your referral link, the donation form will automatically populate with your referral code. The code will then appear in your Donation Reports under the Referral Code column when you export your campaign data—so you can see exactly which link led each giver to your campaign. See Accessing and Exporting Campaign Data for instructions.

You can manage additional donation visibility options from the same Donation Settings page. See Donation Display Settings for a full overview.
