GiveSendGo supports a wide range of fundraisers, from personal needs and medical bills to faith-based causes, legal defense, and more. Most causes are welcome, a few are restricted, and one category (political campaigns) has extra requirements. Here's what you can raise money for and what to know before you start.
GiveSendGo is built to support people through almost any need. Common fundraisers include medical bills, funeral and memorial costs, emergencies, family and personal needs, faith and ministry work, missions, education, and community causes.
We also welcome many fundraisers that other platforms turn away, including legal defense fundraisers, as long as they follow our rules. Being part of a difficult or controversial situation doesn't disqualify someone from asking for help. See Legal Defense Fundraising on GiveSendGo for how that works.
When you create a fundraiser, you select the category that best fits your cause. Pick the closest match, you don't need to get it perfect, and you can change it later. Your category doesn't affect how successful your fundraiser can be.
One thing to know: a fundraiser needs to receive at least $100 in donations before it appears in its category listing on GiveSendGo. Until then, anyone with your fundraiser link can still find and support it.
One category needs special care: Only choose Political Campaign if you're an electoral candidate raising money for a specific office. This category adds extra giver information required by election rules, and donations to non-candidate fundraisers in this category will be declined or refunded. See Running a Political Candidate Fundraiser on GiveSendGo before selecting it.
Most causes are welcome, but GiveSendGo does not allow fundraisers that:
Fundraisers also need to be transparent about how the funds will be used. A fundraiser with missing or misleading information may be removed. These rules are part of our Terms of Service.
Because GiveSendGo operates worldwide, we also follow the laws of the countries we operate in and the rules of our payment processing partners. Occasionally that means we can't host or process donations for a fundraiser even when it follows our own guidelines.
If a fundraiser is found to break these rules, it may be disabled while our team reviews it.
If you come across a fundraiser that seems to break the rules, our team reviews every report. Contact Us with the fundraiser link and the specific concern, and we'll review it against our Terms of Service. For more on how we protect givers, see How We Keep GiveSendGo Safe and Trustworthy.
Once you know what you're raising money for, see Creating a GiveSendGo Fundraiser to set it up.
