Why Is My Transfer Amount Less Than Expected?

Why Your Transfer May Be Lower Than Expected on GiveSendGo

If your transfer amount was less than you expected, it's usually due to timing, fees, or how certain donations are handled. Here are the most common reasons.

Recent Donations Are Still Processing

The most common reason for a difference is timing. When a transfer is initiated, the amount sent to your bank is based on your Current Available Balance at that moment, not your total amount raised. Any donations still processing won't be included.

For more on processing timelines, see How Transfers Work on GiveSendGo.

Transaction Fees

Every donation on GiveSendGo is subject to transaction fees charged by our payment processing partner. These fees are deducted before funds are added to your available balance.

The base processing fee is 2.7% + $0.30 per donation for US-based fundraisers. For non-USA fundraisers, the fee is 3.5% + $0.30 per donation.

On a $100 donation to a US fundraiser, approximately $97.00 reaches your available balance after the processing fee.

For a full breakdown, see Understanding Fees on GiveSendGo.

Currency Conversion Fees

A currency conversion fee applies to donations made in a different currency. Non-USD fundraisers may incur additional currency exchange fees as determined by our payment processor, which can apply when a giver donates in a currency different from your fundraiser's transfer currency, and when funds are converted before being transferred to your bank account.

Optional Support to GiveSendGo

Fundraiser organizers can choose to contribute a percentage of each donation to support GiveSendGo. When this setting is on, the percentage that you choose will be deducted from each donation, and you can change it at any time.

You can review or update this setting at any time. See Supporting GiveSendGo for details.

Disputed Donations

In some cases, a giver may dispute a donation with their bank or card issuer. When a donation is disputed:

  • The disputed amount is removed from your fundraiser balance while the review is underway
  • A $30 dispute fee is deducted from your fundraiser balance while a dispute is under review and/or if the dispute is lost
  • Funds under dispute won't be included in transfers
  • If the dispute is resolved in your favor, the donation is restored
  • If the dispute is upheld, the donation is permanently reversed

If you believe a donation has been disputed, check your donation history in the Donations tab.

Refunded Donations

Donations on GiveSendGo are generally not refundable. In cases where a refund does occur, the refunded amount is deducted from your available balance before transfers are calculated.
